Hello, I am Maxwell Alger, a 3rd-year student in the Computing Science Bachelor’s program at Thompson Rivers University. I am a fact-focused person who likes to see projects through to the end and is reliable in tough situations. The reason I became a computing science student is that during high school I was taking a programming class and really enjoyed it but COVID-19 cut that class short and left me wanting more. I originally was going to go into the software engineering program at TRU but had to take a few upgrader courses to qualify, so I enrolled in computing science since they have some parallel courses but after a semester I realized I wanted to stay. One of my early role models who really got me thinking about computing science was Gord Stewart of the Big Little Science Center, I used to attend his after-school robotics club where I was first introduced to coding through drag-and-drop blocks. A few years later before I stopped attending the club Gord, showing us the BLSC website, told us that he coded it himself, and showed us how he did it, even though I didn’t understand it I was amazed, it made me wonder how could I do something like that.
